Sewing Center
The Sewing Centre is JAAGO Foundation's first women empowerment project. Opened in collaboration with Bachhara, a high-end fashion label, the sewing centre provides employement especially to mothers of the students of the JAAGO School. Women get to work in proximity to their families and in a safe environment where they can express their creativity. The center also provides innovative clothing designs and works with progressive concepts provided by Bachhara, which comes from Australia through Amanda Ryan. The ultimate objective of the Sewing Center is to provide the women with the opportunity to be self-employed as personal tailors.
About Bachhara
Amanda Ryan, an Australian who had spent her life volunteering at numerous charitable organizations, arrived at Dhaka only six months after JAAGO began its journey. In its infant days, JAAGO was having trouble supporting the responses it received from a vast number of families. Amanda identified JAAGO's need for a regular stream of income to sustain its beneficiaries. Thus, she established a sewing center at JAAGO's premises and created her own fashion label, Bachhara. This not only created a regular income, but provided jobs for these single parent mothers in JAAGO and enabled them to continue their children's education.
Amanda returned to Australia shortly afterwards to pursue her education in Management and Fashion Designing. However, she continues to work with JAAGO, returning every two months to Bangladesh to her beloved children, who have become a second family to Amanda.
Sewing Center
The JAAGO Women Empowerment program provides the mothers of our students free-of-cost sewing training and employment. The center also provides innovative clothing designs and works with progressive concepts provided by Bachhara, which comes from Australia through Amanda Ryan. The ultimate objective of the Sewing Center is to provide the women with the opportunity to be self-employed as personal tailors. Through this program, JAAGO aims to support the current students of JAAGO by helping their mothers stand on their own feet and provide for herself and her children.
Future Empowerment
As an educational organization, JAAGO understands that women hold together the fabric of society. The JAAGO Foundation aspires to achieve greater community development through the Women Empowerment project and ensure steadiness in its student's home lives.
