Distance Learning Program (DLP) is a collaborative program of the ICT Ministry of Bangladesh, International Organization for Migration (IOM), Korea Telecom (KT) and JAAGO Foundation (JF) under Digital Island Moheshkhali Project. The objectives of DLP is to provide and ensure quality education of class 1 to class 3 students of 10 government run primary schools at Moheshkhali Upazila in Coxsbazar. In distance learning program, to teach English digital classes’ are conducted through video conferencing from Dhaka, Rayerbazar teachers centre by using video conferencing software and other ICT solutions. JAAGO foundation and IOM have successfully completed its two phases and currently, they are running its 3rd phase of Distance learning program in 10 Govt. primary schools at Moheshkhali Upazila in Cox’s Bazar. This project is started on April 2017 and will be completing its intervention on October 2019.
In Moheshkhali Upazila, approximately, 3000 students and 50 school teachers of 10 govt. primary schools are getting direct benefits of the project and approximately, 9000 students, teachers and parents of these 10 schools are getting indirect benefits from distance learning program.

Under the program JAAGO Foundation is doing the following activities with the collaboration IOM:
Taking Online Classes:
JAAGO foundation is taking live digital English classes of Class one to class three students of 10 govt. primary schools by the teachers from Dhaka, Rayerbazar teachers’ centre with the cooperation of school end teachers. Through digital classes, teachers from Dhaka try to ensure quality teaching-learning of NCTB’s English curriculum and textbook to develop students basic English communication skills.
Awareness Campaign Program:
JAAGO foundation has conducted 3 awareness campaign programs in 3 different phases of three consecutive years with the project schools students’ parents. Through the campaign participants are aware about the benefit of e-learning, how distance learning program is helping students in getting better education, how and what supports of parents and teachers are required in students physical and psychological development. Around 7000 parents and teachers of 10 govt. primary schools are aware about the benefits of e-learning and multimedia classes along with the role of teachers and parents in child physical and psychological development.
TOTT (Training of Teachers Trainer):
JAAGO Foundation has also taken 2 hands-on TOTT (Trainings of Teacher Trainers) of 50 project schools teachers in two different phases by an educational expert and trainer in Moheshkhali Digital Island centre. Through the TOTT teachers received professional skills development training on classroom management, how to take multimedia class in multimedia classroom, multimedia materials development and basic trouble shooting of ICT for operating a multimedia class. The trainer who received the training from JAAGO is sharing their training knowledge and skills with the other teachers of their respective schools to get maximum utilization of multimedia classroom of their schools.
20 School teachers Experiential Study Visit:
JAAGO Foundation has conducted 1 Experiential study visit of 20 school teachers of 10 project schools to share their experiences and ideas for effective digital classes and received professional skills development session on effective classroom management, taking multimedia class in multimedia classroom, multimedia materials development and basic trouble shooting of ICT for operating a multimedia class.
Head teachers Advocacy workshop in Dhaka:
JAAGO foundation is going to conduct a day long advocacy workshop of 10 head teachers of 10 project schools of Distance Learning program and 5 officials of Moheshkhali Upazila Education office by the project heads from both IOM and JAAGO foundation and other relevant resource persons.
Library Setup for self-learning:
JAAGO foundation is going to set up 7 libraries in 7 different schools under the project with Light of Hope as a implementing partner. This library is maintained and managed by the students themselves with a minimum supervision of a teacher.
Resources for Digital Lab:
JAAGO foundation is going to provide students’ age appropriate digital materials on science, Math, English, stories, rhymes, puzzles problem solving games and activity in the school’s ICT lab computers so that students can see the videos. It will improve students’ interest of using schools digital lab as well as develop different creative and problem solving skills. With light of hope, JAAGO foundation is providing these digital resources in 7 project schools of DLP.
Students’ leadership skill development training:
JAAGO foundation is going to provide leadership skill development training of 28 selected students of 7 different schools under Distance learning program with Light of Hope as an implementing partner. Through the training, they will receive leadership training and learn how to design, budget and implement a school development project at their level as an ambassador student of a school.
Teachers ICT and leadership skill development training:
JAAGO foundation is going to provide ICT and leadership skill development training of 28 selected teachers of 7 different schools under Distance learning program with Light of Hope as an implementing partner. In this training, teachers will learn effective teaching-learning strategies, classroom management strategies and multimedia class operation in multimedia equipped classroom.
