As an initiative to teach local school children coding and the basics of computer programming, Microsoft Bangladesh has organised a two-hour workshop titled ‘Coding for Kids’ at Bangabandhu International Conference Centre (BICC) as part of the BASIS SoftExpo-2017.
The event was open for all school children from class 1-8. The chief guest of this session was the State Minister for Posts and Telecommunications Division, Tarana Halim. Among various other special guests were the Ministry of Post, Telecommunications and Information Technology and Mr. Abdur Rob, Director (Policy and Operations), Joint Secretary, Directorate of Primary Education, Ministry of Primary and Mass Education.
Among400 children from different school were our students from Class 6 and Class 8 of JAAGO Foundation Rayerbazar school branch. They participated in various workshops conducted by Wellington Perera, Developer Experience Lead for the Southeast Asia New Markets, Microsoft Asia Pacific and moderated by Munir Hasan, Coordinator Youth Programme, Prothom Alo. Regarding this Sonia Bashir Kabir, Managing Director of Microsoft Bangladesh said –
“I am also passionate about encouraging students to study sciences. The technology industry needs to work with the future generation, colleges and universities to create awareness, educate and attract these young minds towards science education during their formative years,”
