Support Underprivileged Children’s Education This GivingTuesday
Our daily lives have come to a standstill because of the COVID-19 pandemic and the subsequent lockdown. Education institutes closed for an indefinite period, everywhere. While the world embraces online education more than ever, JAAGO is determined to educate children who do not have the privilege of internet or mobile learning.
In order to continue the education of the underprivileged children, JAAGO is providing education to thousands of underprivileged children through the Telephone! However, these children are in dire need of your help to become students again.
One of our students, Rabeya*, studies in grade 5 at JAAGO Bandarban school. She is receiving her education over the telephone. However, her home in Bandarban is in a remote part of the country that is outside of telephone and mobile network coverage. Not willing to let this disrupt her education, she travels every day to her school campus, which has network access and calls her teachers to take lessons and homework.
She sits on the school balcony every day until sunset and finishes her homework and studies. For her security, one of our community officers accompanies her during her entire stay at the school premises. But to continue her education she needs our support.
On December 1st, the JAAGO Foundation will be participating in Global Giving’s #GivingTuesday which is a global day of giving that harnesses the collective power of individuals, communities, and organizations to encourage philanthropy through donation and celebrate generosity worldwide. GlobalGiving’s 2020 #GivingTuesday Campaign will last 24 hours, from 00:00:00 ET to 23:59:59 ET on Tuesday, December 1. On this day of giving, let us all come forward and help the ones in need.
Online donations (credit card, debit card, PayPal, ApplePay, and individually purchased GlobalGiving gift cards) and mobile donations through M-Changa will count towards the total raised on #GivingTuesday. All donations must be made by the account or credit cardholder.
Also, GlobalGiving is a registered nonprofit charity in the United States and England and Wales. Donations made by eligible donors in the United States can be claimed as tax-deductible contributions on United States tax returns. Donations made by eligible donors in the United Kingdom can claim Gift Aid (an extra 25% added to eligible donations by the UK Government) when they donate in GBP. Our program supports more than 3,500 children across 11 schools in Bangladesh, giving them the means to dream for a better life for themselves. This GivingTuesday, every donation made for this cause will help these underprivileged children in many ways.
