Emergency Response & Relief Efforts

Across 11 flood-affected districts in Bangladesh, nearly 1.95 million people are facing the devastating impacts of flash floods, waterlogging, and landslide risks. Behind this staggering number are countless families whose lives have been disrupted overnight—children unable to reach school, parents struggling to find safe shelter, and communities watching their homes and livelihoods disappear beneath rising waters.

The Reality on the Ground

Cox’s Bazar

Unprecedented rainfall has left hundreds of thousands of people affected, with many areas submerged and communities struggling to access essential support. Landslides have already claimed lives in Ukhiya, including Rohingya refugees and a local resident. With roads and railway routes disrupted, many families remain isolated from immediate assistance.

Bandarban

Rivers, including the Sangu and Matamuhuri, have risen beyond danger levels, flooding communities and forcing families living near vulnerable hillsides to leave their homes. Many have reached emergency shelters with only the essentials they could carry.

Rangamati

Multiple landslides have damaged roads and disrupted communication networks, leaving communities cut off. More than a thousand people have moved to shelters, while many others remain stranded in remote areas awaiting support.

Feni

Rising waters from the Feni, Muhuri, and Selonia rivers continue to threaten low-lying villages, putting families at risk as they wait anxiously for the situation to improve.

Volunteer for Bangladesh (VBD) Response

In this difficult time, Volunteer for Bangladesh (VBD), the youth wing of JAAGO Foundation, is standing beside affected communities. Our young volunteers are working tirelessly in challenging conditions—travelling through flooded areas, reaching families in need, and bringing essential support to those who have been displaced.

With your support, we are providing:

Rescue and Evacuation Support

Helping stranded children, elderly people, and families move to safer locations.

Supporting Emergency Shelters

Serving relentlessly at emergency shelters to ensure safety, care, and dignity for displaced families.

Safety Awareness & Outreach

Reaching vulnerable communities with urgent information on evacuation and landslide risks.

Emergency Relief Assistance

Delivering essential supplies, including dry food, clean drinking water, water purification tablets, and oral saline to help families survive.

Together, We Can Bring Hope Through the Floods

The waters may be rising, but so is the strength of communities coming together. Our volunteers are doing everything they can, but they cannot reach every family without your help. Your contribution can provide a lifeline to families who have lost their homes, their belongings, and their sense of security. Together, we can help them get through this crisis and begin their journey towards recovery.
