Position Summary

The Assistant Manager will oversee the entire operational and strategic management of Volunteer for Bangladesh (VBD) across all divisions. Reporting directly to the Executive Director of JAAGO Foundation, the Assistant Manager will ensure smooth execution of VBD’s programs and initiatives, manage a multi-tiered team, and support the nationwide network of volunteers and coordinators.

Job Responsibilities:

Operational Leadership and Support:

  • Supervise the Chain of Command: Directly manage the Senior Officer of YDP, 2 Senior Youth Coordinators (Sr. YCs), and 16 Divisional Youth Coordinators (YCs). Ensure that this team effectively supports the operations of the 8 divisional offices.
  • Coordinate Divisional Offices: Oversee the day-to-day operations of VBD across all divisions, ensuring operational consistency, and alignment with VBD’s objectives and strategic plans.
  • Ensure Policy Compliance: Ensure all regional offices and teams are adhering to VBD policies, procedures, and strategic guidelines.

Monitoring and Evaluation:

  • Performance Tracking: Develop and oversee performance monitoring systems for the Senior Officer, Sr. Youth Coordinators, and Divisional Youth Coordinators, ensuring accountability and effectiveness at every level.
  • Quality Assurance: Conduct regular evaluations of division-level activities and personnel to ensure continuous improvement and alignment with VBD’s mission.
  • Reporting: Consolidate and present quarterly performance and progress reports to the Executive Director of JAAGO Foundation.

Strategic Planning and Implementation:

  • Project Management: Assist in the planning and execution of nationwide projects, providing strategic oversight and ensuring each division meets its objectives.
  • Capacity Building: Lead the identification and development of training programs to enhance the skills of Youth Coordinators and improve the overall effectiveness of VBD initiatives.
  • Resource Allocation: Ensure efficient distribution of resources to divisional offices, guaranteeing that all divisions have the necessary support to run their operations smoothly.

Stakeholder Management:

  • Liaison Role: Serve as the key intermediary between the Executive Director, Senior Officer, and the divisional teams, facilitating smooth communication and issue resolution.
  • Partnership Development: Support the identification of potential partnerships, funding opportunities, and collaborative initiatives to support VBD’s growth and impact.

Administrative Oversight:

  • Budgeting and Financial Management: Work with the Senior Officer and Sr. Youth Coordinators to ensure that division-level budgets are maintained effectively, with financial reports submitted in a timely manner.
  • Conflict Resolution: Oversee the resolution of any operational or personnel issues within the divisions, ensuring alignment with VBD’s by-laws and JAAGO Foundation’s code of conduct.
  • Data Management: Ensure proper documentation, data collection, and reporting for all divisions, facilitating transparency and accountability.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, Public Administration, Management, or related fields.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 4-5 years in a managerial role, preferably within a non-profit or volunteer-based organization.

Additional Requirements:

  • Leadership: Ability to lead and manage teams across multiple levels and regions.
  • Strategic Thinking: Capable of driving and implementing strategies that align with organizational goals.
  • Problem Solving: Proven ability to resolve complex issues across diverse operational environments.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and negotiate with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Cultural Awareness: Sensitivity and understanding of different social and cultural contexts across Bangladesh.
