Brief description of JAAGO Foundation Trust
JAAGO Foundation Trust is a non-profit development organization with a mission to eradicate poverty in Bangladesh through education and positive change. JAAGO focuses on various sectors, including education, youth development, women empowerment, climate change, and governance. JAAGO provides free, high-quality education to children through conventional and digital schooling programs, serving 4500 students currently. Our Youth Development Program empowers 50,000 young citizens with skills and resources for national development. JAAGO addresses challenges faced by women and girls, offering alternative learning opportunities in underrepresented communities. JAAGO actively collaborates with local communities, women, youth, and marginalized groups to develop climate resilience and sustainable livelihood options. JAAGO promotes civic education to enhance youth civic participation, collective action, and leadership for effective societal change.
Position Summary
The Community Mobilizer will play a significant role in implementing project activities at the community level. This includes facilitating workshops, engaging community stakeholders, organizing awareness campaigns, and supporting logistical arrangements. The Community Mobilizer will work closely with local leaders, schools, and other stakeholders to ensure the effective delivery of project objectives. This position requires strong communication and facilitation skills, cultural sensitivity, and the ability to build trust with diverse community groups.
Key Responsibilities
A. Community Engagement and Mobilization
- Build strong relationships with local community leaders, union council members, and school authorities to ensure support for project activities.
- Mobilize farmers, fishers, parents, teachers, youth, and other community members to actively participate in workshops, medical camps, and WASH initiatives.
- Promote inclusive and gender-sensitive approaches in all community interactions.
B. Facilitation and Awareness Campaigns
- Organize and conduct workshops on hygiene practices, disaster preparedness, and education continuity.
- Lead community sessions and awareness campaigns in partnership with local influencers to address WASH, livelihood restoration, and child education.
- Collaborate with the Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL) team to track participation and impact.
C. Logistics and Coordination
- Identify and secure venues for workshops, community events, and medical camps.
- Ensure the availability of necessary materials, equipment, and logistical support for each event.
- Work with the Project Manager and logistics team to coordinate the distribution of relief supplies (e.g., hygiene kits, and agricultural tools).
D. Communication and Reporting
- Act as the primary point of contact for community participants, ensuring timely communication about project activities.
- Prepare session and event reports, documenting attendance, feedback, and outcomes.
- Provide regular updates to the Project Manager on challenges, successes, and recommendations.
Education
- Minimum Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Social Work, Development Studies, or a related field.
Experience
- 1-2 years of experience in community engagement, facilitation, or similar roles, preferably in rural settings.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with fluency in Bengali and familiarity
- with local dialects. English proficiency is a plus.
- Experience working with vulnerable populations, including women and children.
- Proven ability to manage event logistics and mobilize community participation.
