JAAGO Foundation is a civil society organization (CSO) working towards the education and social mobilization of the underprivileged masses of Bangladesh. With its mission to fight poverty, JAAGO pioneered a Free-of-Cost International Standard School for underprivileged children in remote areas of Bangladesh. JAAGO’s Youth Development Program focuses on national development via the reallocation of skills and resources to foster self–reliance and growth in every young citizen.
Position Summary
The Education Coordinator (Head Teacher) plays a critical role in ensuring the effectiveness of JAAGO's Digital School Program in schools supported by online teachers from Dhaka along with on-field Community Teachers. As these schools rely on a blended teaching model, the role bridges the gap between central academic standards and field-level implementation by ensuring academic integrity, monitoring student learning outcomes, and strengthening day-to-day academic operations at the school level.
The primary responsibility of this role is to uphold academic quality and integrity at the branch level through continuous monitoring, evaluation, and coordination. This involves close collaboration with Community Teachers, Online Teachers, Dhaka-based Education Coordinators, and Education Supervisors to identify learning gaps, prevent malpractice, ensure accurate assessment, and maintain reliable student performance records. By ensuring that students remain engaged, supported, and fairly evaluated, the Coordinator contributes directly to continuous academic improvement and institutional quality assurance.
Job Responsibilities
Academic Monitoring & Integrity
- Observe classroom teaching and online-supported lessons to identify challenges affecting learning, including teaching strategies, classroom management, student engagement, and technical limitations.
- Verify students' assignments, classwork, and assessment scripts to ensure accuracy, originality, and academic integrity.
- Supervise and monitor classroom-based assessments and examinations to prevent malpractice and ensure fairness, transparency, and standardization in evaluation.
Student Learning Outcome Tracking
- Conduct regular academic monitoring and spot assessments to evaluate students' learning progress, identify strengths, and detect learning gaps in collaboration with central/Dhaka-based Senior Education Coordinators.
- Track, verify, and maintain accurate records of student performance, attendance, homework, and classwork, and share consolidated reports with relevant Senior Education Coordinators and Supervisors.
- Follow up on students' attendance and engagement to ensure consistency in learning participation.
Academic Support & Coordination
- Provide timely feedback to Branch Teachers and coordinate Online Teachers' academic feedback with central/Dhaka-based Senior Education Coordinators.
- Support the planning and execution of remedial interventions and targeted academic support strategies for low-performing students.
Program Operations & School Support
- Support and monitor school-level academic operations to ensure uninterrupted learning activities, smooth lesson delivery, and proper implementation of academic schedules.
- Act as the primary on-field academic accountability focal point for Digital School operations at the branch level.
- Support the organization and smooth execution of co-curricular and enrichment activities that enhance students' holistic development.
- Regularly review students' learning progress and school academic performance under the guidance of the Supervisor.
Any Other Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate and organized documentation of academic reports, class observations, need based assessments and grades, teacher feedback and performance records, and student progress data as directed by the Supervisor.
- Perform any other academic or program-related duties assigned by the Supervisor or required by the organization in support of institutional goals.
Safeguarding and Gender Sensitivity:
- Promote and maintain a safe, inclusive, and child-friendly learning environment across all schools through training, contents and other activities.
- Ensure that all educational practices and content adhere to JAAGO Foundation's Safeguarding Policy and Code of Conduct.
- Incorporate gender-sensitive, inclusive approaches in all teaching and monitoring activities.
Qualifications
Educational Qualification:
- Minimum Honours degree; Honours degree in relevant subject areas will be given preference.
Experience:
- Teaching experience or training in primary and/or secondary education with strong subject knowledge.
Additional Requirements:
- Strong understanding of teaching-learning processes and assessment practices.
- High attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate academic records and reports.
- Strong communication and coordination skills for effective collaboration with multiple stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently in field-based environments and manage multi-stakeholder coordination.
- Knowledge or experience on the government assessment system of secondary level education will be considered as an advantage.
