Brief description of JAAGO Foundation

JAAGO Foundation is a civil society organization (CSO) working towards the education and social mobilization of the underprivileged masses of Bangladesh. With its mission to fight poverty, JAAGO pioneered a Free-of-Cost International Standard School for underprivileged children in remote areas of Bangladesh. JAAGO’s Youth Development Program focuses on national development via the reallocation of skills and resources to foster self–reliance and growth in every young citizen.

Position Summary

The Education Coordinator plays a central role in ensuring academic quality across JAAGO Foundation schools, regardless of the mode of delivery (conventional or online). The Coordinator provides direct academic supervision and professional support to Teachers to ensure high- quality classroom practices.

The primary responsibility of the role is to ensure that lessons align with curriculum standards, are engaging, and effectively address students' learning needs. The Coordinator guides Teachers in lesson planning, assessment practices, and effective use of instructional resources, while regularly reviewing student performance data to ensure quality assurance. Provides need- based training to improve education practices under the supervision of the Education Supervisor.

By working closely with Teachers, school- based staff, and other Education Coordinators, the role ensures consistency in teaching practices, timely resolution of academic challenges, and continuous improvement of learning outcomes across all schools.

Job Responsibilities:

Monitoring and evaluation:

• Ensure effective teaching practices by reviewing lesson plans/instructional materials, teaching aids and their alignment with curriculum standards.
• Conduct regular classroom observations (physical and/or virtual) to assess teaching quality, instructional delivery, and student engagement.
• Monitor student learning progress using assessment data, grade averages (class average at or above 60%), and performance trends; identify underperforming students and support the planning of appropriate interventions.
• Review assessment records (e.g., chapter- end assessments, class tests, half yearly, yearly, term and other significant summative examinations) and provide timely feedback and reports for academic improvement planning.
• Ensure Teachers complete assigned academic tasks and additional responsibilities such as implementing various supporting guidelines and training as required.
• Monitor and verify Teachers' (and school staff, where applicable) attendance, punctuality, and adherence to professional responsibilities.
• Track student attendance patterns and collaborate with relevant teams to maintain attendance rates at or above 80%
• Ensure learning environments, instructional tools, and communication channels are maintained according to program guidelines and standards.

Program Development:

• Provide timely and constructive academic feedback on lesson plans, classroom practices, instructional materials, and other related practices.
• Collaborate with Teachers and related teams to design and implement targeted academic support strategies aimed at reducing the number of low-performing students.
• Build Teachers' professional capacity through coaching, mentoring, training sessions, and regular performance feedback.
• Plan and support academic interventions to improve students' learning outcomes as required.
• Strengthen collaboration among Teachers, Coordinators, and support teams to foster a positive, supportive, and effective learning environment.
• Engage in continuous professional development and self-improvement under the guidance of the Supervisor.
• Support the recruitment, onboarding, and orientation of qualified Teachers in line with program needs.
• Report needs or issues to the Supervisor to support program development and decision-making.

Program Operations:

• Provide/support monitoring and guidance to ensure the smooth implementation of school and program activities.
• Assist in planning and implementation of co-curricular activities, national observances, and academic events in coordination with relevant teams.
• Ensure academic deliverables (e.g., development of teaching materials, aids, question papers, assessment schedules, grading, result compilation, parents' meetings, and report card days) are completed accurately and on time.
• Provide guidance and support to address challenges raised by Teachers or school teams where applicable.
• Report needs or issues to the Supervisor, Administration, and HR teams to ensure smooth program implementation.

Any Other Responsibilities:

• Maintain accurate and organized documentation of academic reports, class observations, need-based assessments and grades, teacher feedback and performance records, and student progress data as directed by the Supervisor.
• Perform any other academic or program-related duties assigned by the Supervisor or required by the organization in support of institutional goals.

• Promote and maintain a safe, inclusive, and child- friendly learning environment across all schools through training, content, and other activities.
• Ensure that all educational practices and content adhere to JAAGO Foundation's Safeguarding Policy and Code of Conduct.
• Incorporate gender- sensitive, inclusive approaches in all teaching and monitoring activities.

QUALIFICATIONS

Educational Qualification:

• Bachelor's degree in Education, Sciences, Commerce, or a relevant discipline.
• Additional training/certification in pedagogy, assessment, teacher development, or education leadership will be considered an advantage.

Experience:

• Minimum 1- 2 years of relevant experience in teaching and/or academic supervision, teacher support, or education quality assurance.
• Demonstrated experience in at least two of the following areas is preferred:
• Classroom observation and coaching.
• Lesson planning support and teacher mentoring.
• Assessment design/review and data- driven improvement planning
• Academic monitoring across multiple classrooms/schools
• Experience in coaching SSC batches will be an advantage.
• Related work experience will be considered an advantage.

Skills and Other Competencies:

• Strong understanding of curriculum alignment, lesson planning, and classroom pedagogy.
• Ability to analyze assessment data, identify learning gaps, and recommend actionable interventions.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to coach, mentor, and support Teachers effectively.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and school follow- ups simultaneously.
• Ability to work collaboratively across teams and maintain professional accountability.
• Digital literacy and comfort using tools such as Google Workspace/docs/spreadsheet/slides, communication platforms, and basic data tracking tools.
