Position Summary

A community-focused professional with experience working at the upazila level, the Program Organizer will coordinate and conduct workshops, community sessions, and advocacy activities in schools and community spaces. This role requires excellent communication and organizational skills, familiarity with community engagement, and experience working closely with local leaders and stakeholders. The Program Organizer will be responsible for securing venues, mobilizing community participation, and ensuring smooth implementation of all project activities.

Job Responsibilities

A. Workshop and Community Session Facilitation:

  • Organize and conduct workshops in schools across the Sunamganj district, educating students on child rights, gender equality, and child marriage prevention.
  • Facilitate community sessions at the union and upazila levels to raise awareness and engage parents, teachers, community leaders, and local organizations in the project’s mission.
  • Work closely with youth groups, women’s associations, and community-based organizations to promote child rights and advocate against child marriage.

B. Community Engagement and Mobilization:

  • Communicate regularly with local community leaders, school management, and union council members to gather support for the project.
  • Mobilize community members, including parents, teachers, religious leaders, and youth, to actively participate in workshops, dialogues, and advocacy campaigns.
  • Build strong relationships with local influencers to secure their support in promoting project activities and child rights awareness.

C. Venue and Logistics Management:

  • Identify and secure suitable locations for workshops, community meetings, and other project events at schools, union council spaces, and community centers.
  • Ensure that all necessary materials, equipment, and logistical arrangements are in place for each session, including seating, audiovisual needs, and promotional materials.
  • Collaborate with the Upazila Coordinator and logistics team to ensure the efficient setup and organization of event spaces.

D. Communication and Coordination:

  • Act as the main point of contact for local participants, ensuring timely communication about event details, schedules, and requirements.
  • Coordinate with school authorities and community representatives to address any logistical or programmatic needs for workshops and sessions.
  • Report regularly to the Upazila Coordinator on community engagement progress, challenges encountered, and feedback from sessions.

E. Monitoring and Documentation:

  • Track attendance and participation in each session, documenting key activities, feedback, and outcomes for reporting and monitoring purposes.
  • Prepare and submit brief reports after each session, highlighting successes, challenges, and recommendations for future activities.
  • Support the Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL) team in collecting relevant data for program evaluation and impact assessment.

Education

  • Diploma/ BA Pass/ Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, Community Development, Education, or a related field.

Experience

  • 2-4 years of experience in community engagement, facilitation, or program organizing, preferably at the upazila or union level.
  • Strong communication skills, with proficiency in Bengali and familiarity with local dialects; knowledge of English is an advantage.
  • Demonstrated experience working closely with local leaders, schools, and community members in rural settings.
  • Organizational skills to manage event logistics and ensure smooth coordination of workshops and sessions.
  • Passion for promoting child rights and preventing child marriage, with a deep understanding of local community dynamics.

Skills and other competencies

  • Community Engagement: Ability to build trust and rapport with local leaders, parents, and school authorities, encouraging active participation in project activities.
  • Facilitation Skills: Skilled at leading workshops and community discussions in an inclusive and engaging manner.
  • Organizational Skills: Proficient in handling event logistics, including venue setup, materials, and attendance tracking.
  • Communication: Strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills, capable of effectively engaging a diverse range of participants.
  • Adaptability: Flexible and responsive to changing schedules and community needs, adjusting plans as necessary to optimize session impact.
