JAAGO Foundation School Student Sohag Selected for IM Japan-Bangladesh Goodwill Mission for High School Students Program

We are beyond proud as our student Md Sohag Uddin Molla is selected for the IM Japan-Bangladesh Goodwill Mission for High School Students Program.

The IM Japan-Bangladesh Goodwill Mission for High School Students is a prestigious initiative that offers a 12-day educational and cultural tour of Japan. The program is designed to give Bangladeshi students a unique opportunity to gain global exposure, experience world-class learning environments, and foster meaningful cross-cultural understanding. Selected participants not only get to immerse themselves in Japanese traditions, festivals, and lifestyle, but also develop a broader worldview that strengthens their academic and personal growth.

What makes this mission even more significant is its competitive nature. Only 10 students from across Bangladesh were chosen to represent the country. Among those bright young minds is JAAGO student Md. Sohag Uddin Molla.

Sohag’s Journey with JAAGO

Sohag grew up in a humble household of five. His father works as a driver, while his mother is a homemaker who has devoted her life to raising her children. Sohag has two brothers, one younger, and an elder brother who is married, has a baby, and runs a small shop to support his own family. Despite the financial constraints and challenges, Sohag’s parents have always prioritized education, believing it to be the only path toward a better future for their children. But their resources were limited. They could not afford to send Sohag to school. But that reality changed when they heard about JAAGO Foundation School. Through JAAGO’s free of cost education program, Sohag got access to quality education and opportunities for a brighter future.

Since childhood, Sohag has been a curious soul, always wanting to learn new things, explore new ideas and step outside the boundaries of textbook knowledge. He recalls participating in a science fair as a highlight, where he learned how curiosity can be translated into innovation through research and systematic problem-solving. These early experiences shaped his mindset, teaching him that knowledge is not just memorized, but applied to create solutions.

But Sohag’s growth extended beyond academics. He actively took part in reading and writing competitions, earning certificates that celebrated his communication skills and passion for literature. These achievements, though small on paper, became stepping stones toward building his confidence and expanding his horizons.

Despite financial restraints, Sohag completed his SSC examination from JAAGO Foundation School with a brilliant result. After that, he enrolled at at Banani Bidyaniketon College, continuing his journey of transformation through education. His hard work and determination recently earned him a spot in the IM Japan programme, a highly competitive opportunity that selected only 10 students from 5 colleges. Out of 70 applicants at his college, Sohag was one of just six chosen for the final interview—a testament to his perseverance and dedication.

This programme will allow him to learn about Japanese culture, traditions, and festivals, while also equipping him with valuable international exposure. For Sohag, this is more than just a cultural exchange; it is about the belief that with hard work and determination, he can achieve anything he want. It is a stepping stone toward his dream of becoming a computer engineer.

Now, he hopes to pursue higher education in Japan, one of the world’s most technologically advanced countries, and believes the skills and experiences he gains during the program will be crucial when applying for scholarships at Japanese universities.

What makes Sohag’s story remarkable is not just his achievements, but the barriers he has overcome to get here. Coming from a modest family with limited resources, Sohag has proved that with resilience, hard work, and the right opportunities, no dream is too big. His story is an inspiring example of how education can empower youth to break cycles of poverty and aspire for a brighter future.
