With a heart beaming with joy, we are thrilled to announce that our beloved founder, Korvi Rakshand, went to Manila, Philippines, to receive the prestigious Ramon Magsaysay Award 2023. Korvi Rakshand has been honoured in the Emergent Leadership Category and will bring the award home to Bangladesh from the Philippines, symbolising a significant achievement for the nation.
The award ceremony took place on November 11, 2023, from 4:30 PM to 6:30 PM in Manila, Philippines (2:30 PM to 4:30 PM Bangladesh Time) at the Metropolitan Theater, located on Padre Burgos Avenue in Manila. This esteemed event brought together four remarkable individuals who were recipients of the 2023 Ramon Magsaysay Award. Alongside Korvi Rakshand, Ravi Kannan R from India, Miriam Coronel-Ferrer from the Philippines, and Eugenio Lemos from Timor-Leste graced the occasion, reflecting the diverse and inspiring stories of change and progress recognised by the award. The announcement of the 2023 award recipients was made on the 31st of August, heralding Rakshand’s extraordinary contributions to societal upliftment and sustainable development.
The Honourable Chairman, Aurelio R. Montinola III and Senator Ramon B. Magsaysay, Jr. presented the award to Korvi Rakshand. The event was further graced by the 2002 Ramon Magsaysay Awardee, The Venerable Pomnyun Sunim from Korea, who delivered a remarkable keynote address.
The Ramon Magsaysay Award, instituted by the Rockefeller Brothers Fund in 1957, is a profound tribute to the enduring legacy of Ramon Magsaysay, the former President of the Philippines. It celebrates the spirit of sincerity, bravery, and selfless dedication displayed by individuals and organisations that have made a significant difference across Asia.
